I have made a bit of progress in knitting these socks. At this point I have another five or six rows to finish the foot section.
When making two socks at once you don't see the sock take shape as fast as you do when you're knitting only one sock at a time. But it's really satisfying when you bind off at the cuff and you have a pair of socks to wear right away.

They look very nice. I have tried knitting toe up but haven't had much luck. I like the toe up concept though. I did finish a pair starting with the cuff first and actually finished a pair. But grafting the toe isn't much fun
ReplyDeleteI've made a couple of pair of toe-up socks before. It is a little tricky getting things started, but I really like the idea of getting the foot the right length and width. I'm signed up on Craftsy and am taking the class on Toe-up socks with Donna Druchunas. I've learned a lot and have found that practice is the best teacher. Don't give up!

ReplyDeleteI really like the toe-up class because Donna goes into depth explaining and demonstrating three different toes styles and three different approaches to heel construction. She also provides info about how to incorporate your favorite stitch patterns. The cost of the class is very reasonable considering the volume of information you receive and you can go at your own pace. I got an email today that Craftsy has a sale on classes through July 2, 2012.
DeleteYour socks look great - love your yarn. I perfer knitting socks toe up, I agree that starting is tricky but after the toe section the knitting is so much easier.
