Not much progress to report on these grey socks. Sometimes I wish I would just knit one sock at a time. Things would seem to go faster.
There's an advantage to making socks from the toe up. You get to try them on as you go. There's quite a bit of stretch to these and they are fitting me nicely. My hubby's foot is slightly bigger so I may have to make him a different pair. Oh darn!
Today I'm headed to a friend's house for some crafting and visiting. Just a little group of us will sit and chat while working on our projects. I'm hoping that I might get the foot completed so that I can start on the heel shaping.

Great socks! I have trouble casting on for toes up socks-I guess I need some practice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Maggie. Actually, I found the provisional cast on using waste yarn the easiest for me. First I create a crochet chain from waste yarn, making it about six chains longer than the required number of knit stitches I will need. For the short-row toes I cast on 1/2 of the total foot stitches by inserting my needle into the back bumps of the crochet chain. I work the toe shaping and then remove the waste yarn and pick up those live stitches. ReplyDeleteYour socks look so warm. Question from a totally new knitter -- do you think it is easier to go from toe up or top down? I invested in a Magic Loop recently but have not started any socks YET!
